Key Takeaways:

  • Rule 5.7 caps redemptions at $25–$50 for free bonus players.
  • Seven sweepstakes casinos have this rule in their T&C’s.
  • The rule can affect redemptions on balances with purchased coins.

It’s important to understand what you’re agreeing to before joining a sweepstakes and social casino. Even though you won’t have a problem redeeming prizes in most cases, there are certain platforms with different rules that have been catching players by surprise, at the worst possible time.

Unfortunately, one of these rules keeps being brought to our attention and posted about on social media. By our estimates, it’s impacted thousands of unsuspecting players. This is Rule 5.7, and it’s in the T&C’s of every site owned by A1 Development.

What is Rule 5.7?

As stated in the T&C’s at Funrize, TaoFortune, and numerous other A1 Development casinos, Rule 5.7 says the following:

“The maximum winnings that can be redeemed resulting from a prize that player has gotten for free (e.g. after playing Magic Boxes game, completing Quests, etc.) are limited to 25.00 per account. If using promotional entries awarded within a referral program to play games, the maximum winnings amount to be redeemed is limited to 50.00 winnings.”

What happens if you try to redeem more than 25 – 50 SC?

If you sign up and claim the free welcome offer/daily bonus that’s offered to every player, you won’t be able to redeem more than 25 SC in prizes. Let’s say you sign up, claim TaoFortune’s daily bonus, and win 100 SC by playing games with your free coins.

No matter how much you win, you’re restricted to “cashing out” a maximum of 25 SC ($25). Should you happen to invite friends, claim the referral bonus, and play games with your SC, you’re limited to redeeming 50 SC ($50) under the same rules.

While you can technically submit redemption requests above the limit, you’ll receive an email telling you about Rule 5.7 retroactively.

It’s also been reported that even after players make a purchase, Rule 5.7 is applied to all the winnings (rather than winnings obtained strictly from free coins). The only way to avoid this rule affecting your redemption is not to claim any bonuses you haven’t specifically paid for.

This means you shouldn’t claim the no-deposit bonus, daily bonus, or any rewards outside of free SC you’ve obtained by spending money on GC.

Which Sites Have It?

Rule 5.7 is imposed by A1 Development that owns a wide range of sweepstakes casinos. You’ll have to deal with this rule at each of the following sweeps sites:

As you can tell, we are not fans of this rule and how it has caught too many players by surprise. It’s hard enough to win big, and the sheer disappointment of having a redemption reduced to $25 or $50 just sucks. We like playing at sites that have fast hassle-free redemption processes.

While we enjoy playing in tournaments on Funrize, our advice is not to accept any bonus / free spins or other promotions on any of these sites if you are planning on making a purchase. There are plenty of other sites that offer free SC that won’t penalize you.

This is a reminder of why it’s important to go over the terms and conditions when you signup before making any purchase. Skipping over even a single detail, such as Rule 5.7, can dramatically worsen your gaming experience if you’re not careful.
