Gameplay

Ze Zeus operates on a 6-column, 5-row grid with 30 symbols visible at any given time. When you click the Spin button, your aim is to connect between 5 – 20 symbols horizontally and/or vertically. 

This game relies on cluster wins and features a tumble mechanic where matching symbols explode in place, leaving the symbols on top to fall in their wake. This feature also makes it possible to win more than once on a single spin. 

Plus, whenever you match different combinations, a “Divine Square” appears in the background of the icon. These squares are activated by Hand of Zeus symbols, at which point they turn into bonus coins with a respective multiplier value attached. 

Graphics

Ze Zeus’ background is set in the cozy comforts of Mount Olympus, but random flashes of lightning are designed to keep you on your toes. Wine made from grapes, shields, helmets, plant-covered pillars, and precious gemstone symbols add to the allure of this slot.

Connecting 13 or more god-like Zeus symbols results in a max win of 100x your stake, but

Bonus Rounds 

Ze Zeus has three potential bonus rounds, one of which is hidden from view until you unlock it. 

Landing three FS scatter symbols in the base game awards up to 8 free spins with highlighted Divine Squares, but landing four FS symbols at the same time upgrades you from “What if Zeus was One of Us” to “Ze Zeus Take The Wheel.” 

In “Ze Zeus Take The Wheel,” Divine Squares remain highlighted even after they’re activated by the Hand of Zeus symbol. This improves your chance of earning more bonus coins (multipliers). 

Finally, landing five FS symbols at once unlocks the “Ze Zeus Might Superstar” bonus. All Divine Squares remain highlighted for the duration of the bonus round, and a Hand of Zeus symbol is guaranteed to land on every spin. Best of all, there are no Bronze coins (only Silver/Gold).

My Take 

Ze Zeus is an awesome game, especially if you’re into Greek mythology slots. I’d rate it just a little better than Gates of Olympus due to its more flexible bonus options, even though both machines rely on cluster pays and tumble wins to keep the excitement going. 

Plus, Gates of Olympus only has a 5,000x max win multiplier while Ze Zeus doubles this figure to 10,000x your stake. The sole area where Ze Zeus falls short against Gates of Olympus is its RTP, which is at a very respectable 96.34% as opposed to 96.50% for Pragmatic’s flagship slot.
