Scrooge Casino is an independent sweeps casino that got its start as a crypto casino with its very own token. These days Scrooge is a more traditional sweeps casino that accepts various payment types, including Visa and Mastercard. It also offers PayPal for redemptions, which is unusual. There are over 400 different slot games on Scrooge Casino from popular slot developers like Fantasma and Ka Gaming. The site features an unusual theme that’s at least partially inspired by the classic cartoon character Scrooge McDuck (or Ebenezer Scrooge, take your pick). The site offers a couple notable features including ultra-low stakes penny slots and 24-hour payouts.
We independently review every casino on this site and may be compensated if you play at a casino through one of our links. Learn More.
What we like:
- Fast payouts with PayPal
- Available in 45 states and Canada (excluding Quebec)
- Live chat option for support
- Ultra low-stakes games that cost pennies per spin
What we don’t like:
- No Pragmatic Play or Playson
- Difficult to verify account
- Software glitches
- Verification required for Daily Wheel Spin
Scrooge Casino Review
Scrooge Casino is a bit of an odd duck in the sweepstakes casino space.
Owned and operated in the USA by SCROOGE LLC INDIANA, the site started as an interesting crypto project that would reward winners with its own proprietary SCROOGE token.
You can still use the SCROOGE token for redemptions but the casino has been overhauled to fit a more traditional sweepstakes model with games from top slot developers such as KA Gaming and Fantasma and traditional payment options like Visa or Mastercard.
Scrooge has less slots than some of its competitors but a ton of alternate casino games including table games like slingo, roulette, baccarat, blackjack, fishing, penny slots, keno and scratcher. It even has unusual arcade-style “casual” games.
The site also features some of the cheapest games to play with slots coming in at the equivalent of just $.02 a spin. Suffice to say you can play a long time on Scrooge if you’re betting pennies.
Scrooge also promises ultra-fast redemptions (within 24 hours, excluding weekends), which is one of the most requested features across the board.
You’ll also get access to a responsive live chat option for customer support but I did run into a few glitches while reviewing the site. Let’s get into it all below.

Bonuses & Promotions Available
Unfortunately Scrooge Casino is rather lackluster when it comes to bonuses and promotions. Here’s a cheat sheet to the available promos currently on Scrooge:
Bonus | Details |
No Deposit Bonus | 2,000,000 GC + 1 SC |
Welcome Offer | Up to 150% bonus |
Daily Login Bonus | Daily Wheel Spin |
Mail-in Envelope | Yes |
Social Media | Offers on Facebook, X |
VIP Program | No |
Refer a Friend | Yes |
Other Promos & Offers | Free spins on certain coin bundles |
First off, my welcome bonus for Scrooge included 2 million GC and a paltry 1 SC. That’s a rather low casino bonus compared to industry standards, at least for Sweeps Coins.
I’ve heard some reports of other players getting 2.5 SC for signing up on Scrooge but that’s still nothing to write home about. Some of the industry leaders offer up to 10 SC just for signing up with no purchase required. Fortune Casino and Zula Casino are particularly good in that regard.
Instead of a flat daily log-in bonus, Scrooge offers a Daily Wheel Spin. This is a common practice that you’ll see on other sites such as FortuneWheelz and Funrize but – in my opinion – it’s not as good. I could be biased as I have terrible luck with the wheels but I think most slots players would take a flat bonus every day. There’s also no VIP program to speak of on Scrooge Casino.
One positive for Scrooge: They offer free spins on certain coin bundles. That’s somewhat unusual for a sweeps casino site and definitely a step in the right direction.
You can also earn referral bonuses on Scrooge Casino if you manage to sign up friends or family. The exact number is not listed, however. I spent some time talking to customer support and they wouldn’t give me an exact number and said it was variable depending on a number of facts (how much your referral plays etc).
Scrooge Casino is active on Facebook and Twitter, which I love to see, and they frequently award free ST to followers. Sadly they do not offer a loyalty program for regular players.
Coin Package Assessment
The Scrooge Casino Coin store is extremely simple.
There are two special offers for new players that offer outsized value and everything else is exactly 1:1 with USD to Sweeps Coins.
We should note that Scrooge has a proprietary sweeps coin called ST that’s valued at 100 = $1. For the sake of consistency we’ve converted ST to SC at the usual 1 = $1 conversion.
As a refresher, on sweeps casinos you’re actually buying Gold Coins (which have no redemption value) but the casino throws in equivalent amount of SC, which you can redeem for cash prizes on a 1 SC = $1 basis.
You’ll note the Mega Offer on Scrooge Casino is $9.99 for 1.5 million GC and 25 SC. That represents a massive 150% bonus over regular coin prices. It ranks in the upper echelon of special offers on sweeps casinos.
You can buy bundles starting at just $5 and they go all the way up to $250. Unlike some other casinos there are no bonuses for buying bigger bundles so you might as well buy smaller bundles and just reload whenever you feel like it.
The site is quite generous with Gold Coins and buying coin bundles is completely optional. You could play on Scrooge indefinitely without ever having to spend a thing (although you’re probably not going to win any cash prizes either).
Here’s how the best offer on Scrooge compares to some of the most popular sweeps casinos:
Price | Gold Coins | Sweeps Coins | Bonus Coin Rate | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Fortune Coins | $3 | 2,000,000 | 10 | 233% SC |
Chumba Casino | $10 | 10,000,000 | 30 | 200% SC |
WOW Vegas | $10 | 1,500,000 | 30 | 200% SC |
Scrooge Casino | $9.99 | 1,500,000 | 25 | 150% SC |
Luckyland Slots | $5 | 50,000 | 10 | 100% SC |
Pulsz | $15 | 216,875 | 22.50 | 50% SC |
McLuck | $10 | 50,000 | 15 | 50% SC |
Crown Coins | $15 | 500,000 | 20 | 33% SC |
SweepSlots | $15 | 500,000 | 20 | 33% SC |
Funrize | $20 | 700,000 | 26 | 30% SC |
High 5 Casino | $16 | 100 | 20 | 25% SC |
Scrooge Casino Payments & Redemption Review
Payment Methods | Visa, Mastercard, Debit Card |
Minimum Purchase | $5 |
Maximum Purchase | $250 |
Minimum Redemption | 100 SC |
Minimum Gift Card Redemption | N/A |
Average Redemption Speed | 24 hours |
Scrooge Casino is extremely standard when it comes to payments with support for Visa, Mastercard and debit cards.
The site is highly unusual when it comes to real money redemptions, however, with support for apps like PayPal, Cash App and even crypto.
PayPal and Cash App are notoriously absent on sweeps casinos so it’s awesome to see them included on Scrooge Casino. Those apps are part of the reason Scrooge Casino is able to make good on its 24-hour redemptions promise.
There are a couple caveats with the 24-hour fast redemptions: 1. There are no redemptions on weekends. 2. The cashout amount has to be under $500.
I used PayPal and got a redemption to my account in about 18 hours. Not bad at all.
You can request redemptions once per day and each one requires a minimum of 100 SC.
There’s also a fairly complicated crypto redemption method that requires a BSC (Binance Smart Chain)-enabled wallet such as MetaMask or Trust Wallet. There’s a notable extra fee here but there’s a potential to receive redemptions even faster. Personally I’d skip this option as the site seems to be pivoting away from the crypto angle.
Keep in mind that for any redemption (or even to take advantage of the daily wheel spin) you’ll have to complete the KYC verification steps.
That involves providing the following:
Selfie
ID Card (Driver’s License, Passport, State ID etc.)
Proof of address (Utility bill, bank statement etc.)
I personally had an extremely hard time completing the last step of KYC as the site would not accept my utility bill. I had to try three different documents before I was finally verified.
Review of Game Selection & Playing Experience
Number of Slots | 500+ |
Slot Providers | KA Gaming, Hacksaw Gaming, Relax, Fantasma, Revolver, Swintt, Evoplay |
Exclusive Slots | No |
Jackpots | Yes |
Slot Tournaments | Yes |
Game Types | Slots, classic slots, slingo, roulette, baccarat, blackjack, casual, fishing, penny slots, keno, scratcher |
Scrooge Casino has a relatively modest amount of slot games compared to competitors.
The majority of the sites slots come from KA Gaming, Evoplay and Fantasma. I like Evoplay and Fantasma games quite a bit. In fact The Greatest Catch (Evoplay) and Mystic Spells (Fantasma) are two of my favorites. Eldritch Dungeon (Relax) is also a banger.
There is a glaring hole in the Scrooge Casino slot lineup, however. You’ll quickly notice there are no Pragmatic Play games on Scrooge. Pragmatic Play offers some of the most well-known slot games in existence with Sugar Rush, Sweet Bonanza, Gates of Olympus and many others in its portfolio. It’s definitely a loss for Scrooge Casino.
Navigation is pretty much what you’d expect on Scrooge Casino. You’ve got the option of filtering by game provider or searching for specific games.
There are also a number pre-selected categories that Scrooge Casino offers including:
- Recently Played
- Seasonal
- New Releases
- Trending Games
- Slots
- Megaways
- Hold & Win
- Classic Slots
I didn’t have any trouble locating games on Scrooge Casino but I do wish they had an option to favorite game. The recently played tab shows your five recently played games but nothing beyond that.
One strange issue I ran into on Scrooge Casino is that the toggle to switch between Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins froze at one point. Not ideal when you’re looking to enjoy some free play.
I learned that you needed to hit the toggle right in the middle of the coins (as I’ve illustrated below) but it still locked up on occasion.
You can toggle between SC and GC by pressing in the middle of the wallet balance above.
Scrooge Casino makes up for its lack of slots with a huge number of alternative games including the following:
- Slingo
- Roulette
- Baccarat
- Blackjack
- Casual
- Fishing
- Penny slots
- Keno
- Scratcher
You might wonder what a “casual” game is but it turns out it’s the same thing you’d find on other sites as an “instant win” game.
Here’s an example one of their more popular casual games (Dragon’s Crash):
In Dragon’s Crash players ante up, and then the dragon starts to spit multi-pliers into the bowl. It’s a classic risk-reward game as you can cash in your winnings at any time or let them ride for massive wins (but risk losing it all).
One game category that is rather unique to Scrooge Casino is the so-called Penny Machine. These games are ultra-low stakes and you can spin for pennies. That provides a lot of gameplay to gamblers who don’t have a huge bankroll.
I have to say that Scrooge Casino unique assortment of games was a nice respite from sweeps casinos that are limited to just slots.
To give you an idea of the most popular games on Scrooge Casino, here were the features games when I logged onto the site:
- Eldritch Dungeon (Relax Gaming)
- Champion Blitz (Kalambra Gaming)
- Space Attacks (Relax Gaming)
Player Reports
As part of our comprehensive casino review process, we analyzed everything people are saying about Scrooge Casino online:

Reddit Opinion | |
App Store Rating | NA |
Google Play Rating | N/A |
AskGamblers Player Score | N/A |
AskGamblers Resolved Complaints | N/A |
Trustpilot TrustScore
Scrooge Casino is still a relatively new social casino but it’s already picked up a solid 4.4 TrustScore on TrustPilot.
Unfortunately, that’s only over 246 reviews, which is definitely a small sample size for sweeps casinos. Scrooge Casino has claimed its profile – which is a good sign – but they only respond to 44% of negative reviews and it usually takes a few days for them to respond to complaints on the site.
Scrooge Casino is pretty much a blank slate on the other platforms as the site has yet to be added to AskGamblers and there’s no app on either the Apple or Google app stores.
Reddit Analysis
There are over 50 different posts on Reddit regarding Scrooge Casino.
The posts are all over the place but – it must be said – the majority of them are negative focusing on prize redemption.
There was actually a standalone Scrooge subreddit (r/scroogecoin) that related to the now-defunct cryptocurrency that powered the social casino. It seems that subreddit has now been abandoned with no posts in months.
The rest of the Reddit posts on Scrooge Casino tend to focus heavily on the redemption process, crypto functionality and giveaways.
The most popular Reddit post about Scrooge Casino is decidedly negative saying the site is a scam (but take it with a grain of salt as many of the commenters in the same thread had positive experiences with the casino):
Reddit user BackgroundRip9326 suggested skipping the crypto process altogether:
Mobile Apps & Play
Scrooge Casino App Availability | |
iOS (Apple) | ❌ |
Google Play (Android) | ❌ |
Like most social casinos they skipped the standalone apps and just went for in-browser play on your smartphone or tablet.
This has the advantage that your account carries over and you get access to the complete catalog of slot games on Scrooge.
The slow games worked flawlessly as did baccarat and roulette. I had a little trouble getting the blackjack game to work but everything else was great.
Sometimes it can be challenging navigating the mobile client (especially when you switch your phone to landscape mode) but I thought it worked pretty well on Scrooge Casino.
Here’s a look at in-browser play on my iPhone 15 Pro:

Scrooge Casino is a relatively new casino, which might give users pause when it comes to security but it features some of the same features you’d find on major sweeps casinos.
It uses Persona to verify users and make sure there is now underage gambling on the site. It also offers a spending limit to combat problem gambling. You can set daily, weekly and monthly purchase limits. They are all set at $1,000 by default.
Players might also be happy to know that Scrooge Casino is registered in the USA with a physical address listed at 5625 N German Church Rd Unit #2105 Indianapolis, IN 46235.
One feature that Scrooge is missing? It doesn’t currently offer a way to lock down your account with 2 factor-authentication.
Customer Support Experience
Customer support is all over the place at Scrooge Casino.
First off, I was happy to see the site utilizes live chat, which is my preferred form of communication for sweeps casinos.
Even better, Scrooge Casino responded to my questions extremely quickly. I contacted support multiple times, and they always responded within a few minutes or even seconds.
Officially the live chat support team is available from 8am to 8pm EST but they actually responded to my questions on the weekend as well. It’s pretty impressive.
Now for the bad. The quality of service wasn’t ideal. I had numerous questions regarding proof of address verification and they simply weren’t able to assist me. I had to figure out my own way through the issue.
I’m not sure if it was just the issue I was having but the staff didn’t seem all that interested in helping me out. It was frustrating to say the least.
Scrooge Casino also offers support through email. I found that email took considerably longer for a response so I would recommend live chat. You could also try reaching Scrooge through Facebook or Twitter.
Surprisingly Scrooge Casino doesn’t currently offer an FAQ.

Final Verdict:
I have trouble recommending Scrooge Casino at this point in time.
The site seems to be experiencing some growing pains as it transitions away from being primarily focused on crypto-based gambling.
There are so many quality sweepstakes casinos that Scrooge Casino is somewhat lacking. Personally I really appreciate a significant daily bonus and the daily wheel spin just doesn’t make up for the lack of that bonus.
I also really love to play Pragmatic Play games and they are sorely missing on Scrooge Casino. It might not be a big deal for everyone but I love being able to play Sugar Rush and Wisdom of Athena and you simply won’t find those games on Scrooge Casino.
The site does have some positive things going for it. I really like the option of using PayPal or Cash App for redemptions. Apps like PayPal and Cash App make transactions a breeze and I wish more sites would use it.If Scrooge Casino gets to be a little more generous with its promotions and adds one or two more high-profile soft developers, than I’ll be happy to take another look at the site.
