BigPirate launched in December 2025, and it immediately stood out as something special in the sweepstakes casino space. I can’t wait to tell you about it in this review. 

Rafflefy Limited operates BigPirate, the same company behind Dorados social casino. It’s available across most of the US, except in 12 states, including California, Connecticut, Idaho, Louisiana, Indiana, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee, and Washington.

Even though Big Pirate has only been live since the end of 2025, it’s already holding its own against established sweepstakes casinos that have been around for years.

After spending a couple of weeks getting to know the casino, three things really impressed me about BigPirate. The game library has around 3,000 titles from over 50 providers, spanning everything from slots, table games, and live dealer games to scratch cards, bingo, and more. That’s one of the biggest game libraries of any social casino.

On top of that, a separate gamification layer tied to the pirate theme includes island building, a daily slot game, and a claw machine that gives the platform a personality most competitors lack. The whole experience reminded me of world-building video games I used to play, so it feels like more than just a place to play casino games. I love that unique twist.

The four-currency system, while it takes a little getting used to, is another reason BigPirate stands out from other sweepstakes casinos, which typically have just two. There’s a lot to like here, and BigPirate is instantly memorable in a way that many sweepstakes casinos aren’t. 

But it wasn’t all perfect.  The biggest issue I found was with the live chat, where agents struggled to provide proper answers and would instead refer me to email.

BigPirate runs on four virtual currencies rather than the usual two. Gold Coins are for free play, Diamonds are the Sweeps Coins currency you can use for cash prize redemptions, Rum credits are used on a promotional slot that pays out Gold Coins or Diamonds, and Claw Machine credits let you grab either Diamonds or free spins. It sounds like a lot, but it became second nature to me after exploring the site for a bit.

Most of these currencies are available through promotions at no cost. The no-deposit bonus provides all of them on sign-up, the daily login keeps Rum coming in regularly, and every 100,000 GC played earns a Wheel of Gold spin with Gold Coin prizes. 

You’ve also got the Big Pirate game – separate from the selection of casino games – where you build islands, take part in raids and attacks, and earn prizes. Signing up at BigPirate got me 20,000 GC, 2 Diamonds, and 2 Rum with no purchase necessary. All I had to do was create an account, verify my email, and it was credited right away. I appreciated having all three currencies to test out from the start. 

The Gold Coins went straight toward exploring what the library has to offer, a small amount of Diamonds to start building towards a redemption, and the Rum for their promotional slot that hands out bonuses. It felt like an actual introduction to everything BigPirate has going on.

For my first purchase, I went with the special offer, which included 250,000 GC, 25 free Diamonds, 1 Rum, and 1 Claw Machine credit for $9.99. It works out to 150% more than a standard package.

It was an easy decision given the value. There’s no time limit on it, so if you want to get a feel for the platform first with your no-deposit bonus, you can always come back to it whenever you feel like giving your balance a boost.

The VIP program has five levels from Deckhand to Admiral, which I appreciated as a nice nod to the pirate theme. The perks include a dedicated VIP manager, 24/7 live chat, special packages, free Rum credits, and birthday gifts. Nothing blew me away compared to other sweepstakes VIP programs, but the basic benefits are there.

BigPirate sits comfortably in the upper half of the market at 150% SC for its first-purchase bonus. Fortune Coins leads the pack at 233% SC, and Chumba Casino and WOW Vegas both come in at 200% SC with 30 SC, so there are stronger options out there on both rate and number of SC. 

But it does better than many other competitors. Jackpota matches the bonus rate at 150% SC but delivers only 7,500 GC, making it a much weaker package at the same price point. Everything else in the table is lower, with platforms like Pulsz, McLuck, Crown Coins, and SweepSlots all asking for more money while returning between 25% and 50% SC in bonus rate.

What makes BigPirate’s offer stand out isn’t just those numbers. On top of a healthy GC and Diamond amount, you also get a Rum and Claw Machine credit included in the package. Most competitors’ first-purchase offers are straightforward coin bundles and nothing else.

You don’t have to spend anything to play at BigPirate. The no-deposit bonus and ongoing promotions keep your Gold Coin balance ticking along without you having to reach for your wallet. 

If you do want to make a purchase, Gold Coin packages range from $1.99 up to $99.99. Each one comes with a set amount of Gold Coins, a bonus of free Diamonds and Rum, and some include Claw Machine credits as well.

Payment options include Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, and Google Pay, which cover popular methods. When I tested it on my iPhone 16, I used Apple Pay. Just two clicks and a glance at the screen, and the package was credited to my account immediately. That kind of speed makes the process painless and lets me get to playing quickly, which I really appreciated. 

That said, I’d have liked to see some more modern options in the mix. E-wallets like Skrill are available at sites like Crown Coins, and crypto is also becoming increasingly common in the sweepstakes world. Several competitors, such as Stake.us and Moonspin, have great crypto options.

Redemptions

Once I hit 50 Diamonds, I could make a cash redemption. Most sweepstakes casinos like Chanced or Casino.click set that bar at 100 Sweep Coins, so 50 is a welcome change here. It means you’re not sitting on your balance for weeks before you can actually do anything with it. You only need to play through Diamonds once before they’re eligible for redemptions.

When it came to cashing out, I had two options: Push-To-Card or ACH transfer. I tried both during my time on the platform, and the payments went through successfully with no issues.

Push-To-Card arrived within two days, and the ACH transfer took three days, both of which are reasonable turnaround times. The only thing I felt was missing was a gift card redemption option, which is available from just 10 SC at McLuck.

Big Pirates‘ Game Library

A library of around 3,000 games puts BigPirate near the very top end of the market, and what makes that more impressive is the competition it’s sitting ahead of. Chumba Casino, Crown Coins, and Pulsz have all been running for years, and none of them gets close to that number. 

It’s a strong start for a new platform, but the variety backs it up, too. Slots are the main focus, but you’ll also find live dealer games, table games, scratch cards, bingo, crash, instant-win, and even exclusive games.

Slot Games

With over 3.000 slots in the library, I had no shortage of options. The biggest contributors to the library are Hacksaw Gaming, Betsoft, Endorphina, and Pocket Games, with a solid mix of household names and smaller studios filling out the rest. 

I found plenty of popular slots like 3 Hot Chilli Peppers, Le Fisherman, 4 Pots Riches Hold and Win, and Wanted Dead or a Wild. All performed well, loaded quickly, and felt on par with what I’d expect from a top sweepstakes casino. 

The 70+ exclusive slots were something I didn’t expect and ended up appreciating more than I thought I would. These are titles you’re only finding on this operator’s sites, and having that many exclusives at a sweepstakes casino is rare. I also like that every time you open a game you are given the option to play with either GC or Diamonds, so you don’t need to worry about flipping the toggle at the top of the screen.

Live Dealer

The live casino impressed me. 121 tables covering roulette, blackjack, baccarat, game shows, dice, and poker is a lot for a sweepstakes casino. 

I tested roulette and blackjack mostly and had no complaints. Streaming quality was clean, dealers were professional, and the whole experience felt polished.

Table Games

BigPirate offers 61 virtual table games, including all the classics. Blackjack, roulette, baccarat, poker, Sic Bo, and Dragon Tiger are all in there, and I was pleased to see some titles from Evolution’s First Person series included too.

Exclusives

Something I don’t always come across is a lineup of exclusive titles, and BigPirate has 72 of them at my last count. These are games you won’t find anywhere else apart from sister sites, developed specifically for the operator. I played through a few during my time on the platform, and my favorites were Wealth of the Beast, Joker Jam, Pinata Festival, and It’s Shark Time! 2.

Other Games: (Plinko, Arcade, Instant Win, Fishing etc)

There are also scratch cards, bingo, crash games, and instant win titles if you want a change of pace. I spent a lot of time on BigPirate for this review and never really hit that wall that I sometimes reach, where everything starts to feel the same. The depth and variety is impressive.

Jackpots

With over 180 jackpot titles, BigPirate also has a strong jackpot selection. I played a handful, and a few standouts were 3 Reel Coins: Hold and Win, Bonsai Gold: Hold and Win, Coins Ra Deluxe: Hold and Win, and 3 Crazy Tikis.

Social Play

I worked my way through a good chunk of the library this way during my review and never felt restricted. BigPirate has a TrustScore of 2.8 out of 5 on Trustpilot based on 85 reviews, which isn’t great. What’s interesting is how the reviews split. 39% are 5-star, and 56% are 1-star, with barely anything in between. Players who like it tend to really like it, mentioning its game variety and the mini-games. The 1-star reviews are mostly about redemption issues and repeated verification requests.

Reddit Analysis

The Reddit conversation around BigPirate is mixed. The pirate theme, claw machine, and free spin opportunities get consistent praise, and plenty of users have cashed out without issues. One player described their experience positively: “It only took a couple of hours to get my redemption. I’d give it like a 7.8/10.”

That said, delayed redemptions and repeated verification requests come up a lot in the negative reviews. One user wrote with frustration about “a week of going back and forth with them submitting the document several times,” and honestly, that didn’t surprise me, given what I experienced with the live chat during my own time on the platform.

BigPirate doesn’t have a dedicated app, so everything on mobile runs through the browser. I used it on my iPhone 16 for a big chunk of this review, and it held up well. The site loaded fast, everything was where I expected it to be, and moving around the platform never felt like a struggle on a smaller screen. It doesn’t make you feel like you’re missing out on the app too much, as the website is very modern.

Pro tip: I often have my screen brightness turned down to save on battery, but when I turned it up full the colors and graphics really popped. 

Slots ran smoothly throughout, and the live dealer tables were of the same quality as desktop, with clean streams and no buffering issues. I would recommend using Wi-Fi rather than mobile data, as I’ve run into issues in the past when my connection was bad.

I actually enjoyed certain features more on mobile than on desktop, like building up my island or using the claw machine. Tapping through the pirate map and grabbing prizes in the claw machine on a touchscreen just felt more natural.

The main thing missing is a downloadable BigPirate app. Adding it to your home screen through the browser is a good shortcut and something I’d recommend doing, but it’s not a replacement. A platform with this much going on would really benefit from a dedicated app. Although it isn’t common for a sweepstakes casino in the US to have an app, so I wasn’t too surprised.

Is BigPirate Safe and Legit?

Yes, it is. Nothing I came across during my time on BigPirate raised any red flags. It is a sweepstakes casino, so there’s no gambling license, but it operates under US sweepstakes law, and everything I looked into checked out fine.

Rafflefy Limited owns it, a newer operator that also runs Dorados. The full game library comes from established software providers with independently tested RNGs, so game fairness is covered at the provider level by studios with established reputations.

The privacy policy is a little vague about the specifics of how data is protected, but when I looked into it I found the site runs on 256-bit SSL encryption, which is what you’d want to see. You need to be 21 or older to play, and BigPirate is restricted in 12 states, including California, Connecticut, Idaho, Louisiana, Indiana, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee, and Washington.

BigPirate has a responsible gaming policy with general information and links to external organizations. Purchase limits, time limits, and self-exclusion are all options, though you have to contact support to set them up rather than doing it through your account directly. I’d like to see that change.

Customer Support

I contacted BigPirate through both live chat and email during my review. The live chat is easy to find: just scroll to the bottom of the site, click the icon, fill out a short form, and you’re connected to an agent almost immediately. Getting through to someone that fast is always a good sign.

Unfortunately, that was the end of my positive experience. 

Once I reached an agent, the experience was frustrating. I asked about restricted states during a session, but instead of answering, the agent told me to send an email. I tried again with a different question, and the same thing happened. 

There’s not much point in having a live chat that connects you quickly if the agents on the other end aren’t going to answer what you’re asking – especially with pretty basic questions like which states are legal.

Final Big Pirate Verdict

I’ve reviewed a lot of sweepstakes casinos and, to be totally honest, many of them blur together after a while. BigPirate bucks this trend in a big way and stands out as unique and memorable compared to the competition. It’s not perfect, but it offers a lot that other casinos in this space just aren’t offering yet.

The game library is one of the better ones I’ve come across in the sweepstakes world. I loved diving into 3,000 titles from over 50 providers covering slots, live dealer, table games, scratch cards, bingo, and more. 

The variety is genuinely impressive, and the quality holds up across the board. The collection is the same as its sister site, Dorados, with the theme as the main difference between the two platforms.

But BigPirate isn’t just about the regular games, and that’s what makes it truly interesting. 

The island building, the claw machine, the Wheel of Gold, the daily slot game, and four currencies that work together are all unique in the sweeps world. It creates a full gamification system that most sweepstakes casinos don’t come close to matching. The pirate theme runs through it all, tying everything together rather than being just cosmetic.

Customer support was my biggest frustration during testing. Live chat connected me quickly enough, but agents kept pointing me to email instead of answering my questions. After it happened a few times across different sessions, I gave up expecting much from it. What’s the point of a live chat that doesn’t actually answer simple questions?

Redemptions are worth mentioning, too. My own went through fine, taking just a couple of days. But I’ve read enough on Trustpilot and Reddit about delays and back-and-forth verification requests that I’d want anyone trying BigPirate to be aware of that possibility. 

There’s no shortage of new sweepstakes casinos, but there is a shortage of ones that actually do something interesting. BigPirate has managed the difficult part. A few things need ironing out, but what’s already there in terms of concept, theme, and overall experience makes it one of the standout new launches, in my opinion.
