What is Dragon Link? A Look At Every Dragon Link Slot Variant

Dragon Link hit casino shelves in 2017, and it’s undergone countless renovations over the past eight years. From million-dollar machines to thematic spin-offs, every casino nationwide has at least one Dragon Link slot. Today we’re taking a look at every variant, from Panda Magic to Genghis Khan.

Aristocrat might not have believed it was possible to best their Lightning Link series, but all they needed was a little feng shui to create one of the world’s most popular slot games. Dragon Link highlights Asian culture while maintaining all the fun, excitement and simplicity of Lightning Link.

It builds on Lightning Link’s “Hold & Spin” feature with mind-boggling progressives. Slots streamers Lady Luck, Vegas Matt, and NG Slot are just a few of the high rollers hellbent on winning big bucks from Dragon Link and its numerous derivatives.

While most Dragon Link iterations aren’t vastly different from the original slot, the devil is in the details. Here’s some good news – if you see six golden coins on the screen, that’s your ticket to the bonus (and a potential jackpot) across the board.

Dragon Link: Happy & Prosperous (2017)

Dragon Link: Happy & Prosperous claims to bring fame and fortune via the jolly golden Buddha that’s prominently displayed at all times. While it was one of the first Dragon Link titles released back in 2017, Aristocrat juiced up this variant for high-stakes players.

The Big Jackpot famously won $1,081,105.15 at The Venetian for his efforts on the million-dollar version of this slot.

It has a $1.00 bet denomination compared to the $0.10 bet denomination offered by the original. Aside from offering larger-than-life jackpots, gameplay is fairly similar. However, all lower-paying royal symbols (numbers, letters, etc) are removed during free games.

There’s another special trick that appears during the game’s Hold & Spin bonus. Normally, you start with three free spins. Landing a coin on the reels gets you another free spin. In this game, every re-trigger gives you three more spins. This can boost your chances of winning jackpots.

Here’s what the game looks like in action:

Dragon Link: Autumn Moon (2017)

A screenshot of the Dragon Link variant Autumn Moon.

Dragon Link: Autumn Moon features 25 paylines set along a 3 x 5 grid. Gameplay is similar no matter which variant you’re testing out, but Autumn Moon stands out as one of the original titles launched by Aristocrat in 2017.

It enables wins up to 250x your bet while capturing the inherent beauty of the “Autumn Moon” in the starry night sky. Doors slide open to reveal higher-paying symbols, including bonus coins. If you land six golden bonus coins on the reels, you’ll have a chance to earn any of four jackpots.

The Mini, Minor, Major, and Grand symbols can land during any bonus game. You’ll start off with three free spins. Whenever a symbol sticks to the reels, you get another free spin. Fill the 3 x 5 grid with 15 bonus symbols to earn the Grand (and any other prizes you collect along the way).

Dragon Link: Golden Century (2017)

Dragon Link: Golden Century was released alongside Autumn Moon in 2017, but it’s still one of the more popular variants found in casinos nationwide. It delivers stunning background imagery that captures the Great Wall of China. Free games offer mystery symbols for extra excitement.

Again, your objective is to land six bonus coins on the reels during any spin. This activates your chance to win a jackpot. While gameplay is rather similar to Autumn Moon, Golden Century has a high-paying monk symbol that can occupy multiple positions on the 3 x 5 grid simultaneously.

Dragon Link: Panda Magic (2017)

If you’re into all things cute and cuddly, Dragon Link: Panda Magic is for you. It’s the most widely accessible version of Dragon Link, as it features bet denominations ranging from $0.01 to $2.00.

While it’s not the best variant for high rollers, it’s one of my personal favorites. Kick back, relax, and keep a close eye on the screen as you watch an adorable panda chew on bamboo chutes.

Dragon Link: Genghis Khan (2020)

Conquer the high seas as you embody the essence of Genghis Khan. This was the first Dragon Link variant to be released post-2017, and it comes with some exciting features to match. You’ll get three additional free games whenever you land a single coin during the Hold & Spin feature.

In this version of Dragon Link, it’s possible to win double your bet on every 2x multiplier that you land during free games. Wild symbols multiply on the same payline to deliver 16x your expected payout if you’re extraordinarily lucky. This feature is notably missing from the original slot game.

What Are Some Other Dragon Link Variants Available Right Now?

If you’re looking for more of the best Dragon Link games available in casinos nationwide, you’ll be glad to know that Aristocrat is just getting started. They’ve launched five additional versions of Dragon Link between 2020 – 2023, each meant to cater towards a different group of players:

  • Dragon Link: Peace & Long Life (2021)
  • Dragon Link: Golden Gong (2022)
  • Dragon Link: Peacock Princess (2022)
  • Dragon Link: Silk Road (2022)
  • Dragon Link: Spring Festival (2023)

Excluding graphics, artwork and other aesthetic changes, there aren’t many differences in play between their newest Dragon Link variants. They follow the age-old mantra: “if it’s not broken, why fix it?” In all its forms, this game has proven itself as a timeless classic around the country.
